MASS TIMBER HOUSING

We believe every opportunity to address the housing crisis should be brought to the table - including mass timber. PRESS's mass timber housing concept is first conceived as a series of rigorously defined CLT wall, floor, and roof panels that simultaneously provide flexibility in their use on a given project.

BUILD-TO-SUIT FABRICATION FACILITY

Tilt-up concrete? Sure, but how about tilt-up mass timber? This fabrication facility was conceived with 5-ply CLT bearing walls fully supporting the roof structure. Perimeter steel columns were added to support a bridge crane and rails.

CATALYST

The Catalyst is Washington State’s first full mass timber building. Developed by Emerald Initiative, the project sought to find every opportunity to utilize mass timber - including innovative uses in the exterior and core walls. Over 450,000sf of higher education, research, and private sector offices fill this zero-carbon, zero-energy building.

MCKINLEY SCHOOL ADAPTIVE REUSE

The McKinley School is envisioned as a vibrant adaptive reuse of an existing 1902 four-story school into a mixed-use development with eateries, brewery, and loft-style residences. Located in the Sprague Union District, the McKinley School will bring much needed housing to a burgeoning Spokane neighborhood.

MCKINSTRY FABRICATION FACILITY

McKinstry’s new state-of-the-art fabrication and manufacturing facility will produce prefabricated sheet metal, piping, and plumbing materials and systems. The 68,000sf facility will also be home to Overcast Innovations, a McKinstry-owned subsidiary that produces plug-and-play architectural ceiling cloud appliances.

MERCER GREEN END EXPANSION

Mercer acquired the mass timber facility in 2021 and quickly began the process to expand their wood product manufacturing capability, including the planar mill addition as part of this project. The building’s enclosure is a hybrid steel structure with 3-ply CLT wall and 5-ply CLT roof panels.
